BEVERLY — Doris N. (Miliner) Wonson, 83, wife of the late John R. Wonson, of Beverly, formerly of Gloucester, died on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at the Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Beverly.
Born in Gloucester on Jan. 22, 1925, daughter of the late George and Tillie (Cahoon) Miliner. Doris was a graduate of Gloucester High School and had married her husband John in 1958.
As a young lady, Doris was a Charter Member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks Emblem Club No. 339. She later had served as President and was a lifelong member.
She had worked hard during her life raising her two daughters and in her spare time, enjoyed oil painting scenes of the backshore on Atlantic Road and crocheting.
Doris was truly a very sweet and wonderful lady. In her later years, she cherished the moments she had with her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Linda Gorgone and her husband Peter of Danvers, Donna Small and her husband Fred of Swampscott; granddaughters, Emily and Abby Gorgone of Danvers, Jessica and Maggie Small of Swampscott; her sisters, Ruth Anderson of Rockport, Elizabeth Sloan of South Carolina, Shirley Gurney of Florida; her brother, Ralph Miliner of Topsfield and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her brothers, George and Kenneth Miliner.
