Robert S. Blake

WELLS, Maine — Robert 'Bob' Stanley Blake, 64, of Papa Smurf Way, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008.

Robert was born on Jan. 3, 1944 in Gloucester, the son of Everett and Marjorie (Abbott) Blake. He graduated in 1964 from Gloucester High School's Carpentry Shop. On Oct. 11, 1969, Bob married his sweetheart, Marijane Bourassa in Gloucester. Bob worked for Bombco in Danvers for seven years and for GTE Sylvania in both Ipswich and Exeter, N.H. for over 35 years as a machinist.

The biggest joy in Bob's life was his wife and family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, golf, and tinkering with tractors. Bob was a giving man who donated much of his time coaching youth hockey and baseball. Bob earned his Life Scout award and Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts of America when he was younger, so he also felt compelled to volunteer as a Boy Scout leader to give others the opportunities that he enjoyed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Marijane Blake; his son, Gary Blake and wife Nichole of Wells; and his three special grandchildren, Breanna Mae, Dalton and Dustin.
