ROCKPORT — Nancy Hochberg-Higgins, beloved wife of Richard Higgins and mother of Rachael and Emma Higgins, died at home on Friday, May 23, 2008.

She fought courageously against gastric cancer for over two years.

Born in Boston on Dec. 6, 1949, Nancy was raised in Newton and Rockport.

She attended art school at the Museum of Fine Arts School and received a teaching degree at Boston University and a graduate degree in education at Harvard University.

She lived in Rockport for most of her life.

A gifted teacher at Gloucester High School since 1999, she was a great inspiration to her students. Nancy was a talented artist whose own works in clay as well as paintings were widely recognized.

Above all, Nancy was devoted to her family. Her unique and creative ideas and endeavors were always woven around raising her two daughters with her loving husband. While her children were young, Nancy created a mail order company, Dreambeds, which sold canopy bed kits around the country.
